The British government withdrew its military and economic support given to the Greek government on the civil war against the communists. This posed a threat because the soviet union could offer help to the communist society hence taking control of Greek and Turkey. Aid was given to Greek and turkey by the United States for political and military reasons, this was because both countries were still holding off the communist threats.
