The presence of antagonistic bacteria will inhibit the growth of Candida albicans. This condition can be observed in the vagina which has numerous of normal flora like Lactobacillus bacteria. These bacteria are not hostile and they will prevent the growth of pathogen bacteria. If these bacteria are reduced (by consumption of antibiotics), the risk of yeast infection will increase.
