Many species of aquatic snails secrete a slime and are adapted to live in coastal regions. Rather than swim, they move along the ocean floor in shallow water, wedging themselves into crevices or burrowing into sand. What could happen to these snails if they did not have these adaptations?

Respuesta :

well the snails rely on protection so without the protection
it would seem other fish would eat the snails

Answer:

In biology, adaptation refers to the phenomenon by which a plant or an animal species turns themselves to fit its environmental conditions. It is the outcome of natural selection functioning upon heritable modifications. In the given question, the secretion of slime helps snails to move along the ocean floor. In case if the particular adaptive feature of snail gets diminished than the continuous action of the wave would wash the snails into the open ocean.
