Should an estimate or the exact answer be calculated? Then do the appropriate calculation.    For a science experiment, Renny had a container with 150 mL of solution. He transferred 24.8 mL to each of 3 smaller containers and 17.6 mL to each of 2 other small containers. How much solution was left in the original large container?

An estimate would be acceptable, but an exact answer is preferred. 

150 ML in the large beaker

Round 24.8 to 25.   25 X 3 = 75   150 - 75 = 75 ML left in the big beaker

Round 17.6 to 18.    18 X 2 = 36     75 - 36 = 39 ML left in the big beaker.

There are 39 ML of the solution in the big beaker left.
