What does the word disposed mean in the quote below Here the case was very different, as might have been expected from the duke's love of the bizarre. The apartments were so irregularly disposed that the vision embraced but little more than one at a time. There was a sharp turn at every twenty or thirty yards, and at each turn a novel effect.
arranged
built
titled
or drawn

Respuesta :

the answer should be arranged

So first let's start with the word drawn or D. When replacing the word in the sentence, it is not a good fit considering you can't irregularly draw something, so this does not make sense.

Like D, titled or C is not a good fit either as replacing it in the sentence it doesn't make sense either.

Basically now we have it narrowed down to arranged (A) and built (B). Both of these words can fit within the sentence making sense, so its a bit tricky to see which is the answer. When looking up the word "irregularly" the word "arranged" is in the definition, which is making me slightly lean more towards "arranged" instead of built. Then again, they are talking about apartments which are built and could be arranged. Yes, this is tripping me out as well as I kind of see them equally. Although, one can only be the answer and that in which I believe the answer is arranged. What is making me lean towards arranged is because when looking up the word "disposed", the definitions don't even include the word built, though they do include the word "arranged." Also, when reading the sentences back replacing the word disposed with the words arranged and built, arranged seems to flow and fit better, which leads me to believe the answer is A arranged.
