The first station of regular and informative character is the station 8MK (nowadays WWJ) of Detroit, Michigan (the United States), pertaining to the newspaper The Detroit News, that began to operate the 20 of August of 1920 in the frequency of 1500 kHz.
The jazz of Chicago and New York: The closure by the New Orleans authorities of the Storyville district in 1917, was a major setback for most of the jazz musicians in the area, because in this entertainment district almost all were concentrated the live music venues. This fact began the great migration of jazz musicians to the cities of the north, and especially to Chicago, which enjoyed then a hectic nightlife, with a powerful scene of blues and ragtime, from a decade before. King Oliver, Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet, Jelly Roll Morton or Johnny Dodds, among many others, moved to the "city of the wind" and recorded their first records there, at the beginning of the 1920s.
The baisball was already popular in the 1920s, but from this moment the older league broke and the game and attendance expanded.
