The type of government that confederation articles create is a weak government without significant power.
After the declaration of independence, July 4, 1776, the 13 colonies became the states. Each new state had to draft a constitution to organize its economy, justice, and all other sectors of society. The 13 states tried to unite to repay the debts that had been brought by the war of independence.
The founding fathers continued their discussions after signing the declaration of independence. After one year of debates, they succeeded to write a text called 'The Articles of Confederation'.
The main idea of these articles was the creation of a union, where all states kept their independence and laws. These articles were adopted by all the states four years later because not all agreed with this vision.
They preferred a stronger state than states to enforce national laws. In the beginning, their ideas were not accepted, but after the failure of Confederation articles, they listened more when drafting the first US Constitution held in 1787.
