After failure of scores of petitions, the revolutionaries forced the Boston stamp collector to resign, and these laws were repealed in 1766. The 1773 Boston Tea Party was a series of events where a group of Americans disguised as Red Indians threw 342 chests of tea into the harbor, defeating the purpose of the British to monopolize the sale of tea and imposing duties on its purchase. This led to the introduction of coercive laws which further fuelled the ambitions of independence among the colonists.
The colonists called for a joint action to pressurize the government into repealing the unconstitutional Coercive acts, Imposing economic sanctions against British exports. The representations to the British monarch were in vain, who was sure of the colonists’ goals for independence. The British monarch, George III called for military intervention to solve the American problem, which necessitated the colonists to seek military help from France, Britain’s enemy. The Congress drafted the Famous Declaration of Independence, where the united colonies would be free, and constitute a separate and equal station among the powers of the Earth. This was the beginning of the United States of America.
