Euchromatin is a type of chromatin which is composed of DNA, RNA and proteins and which is enriched with active genes. Euchromatin is the most active portion of the genome inside the cell nucleus. For humans, 92% of their genome is made up of euchromatin.

Euchromatin is lightly packed chromatin for the purpose of using it regularly. It's the euchromatin that contains the genes that are the most active in expression.This chromatin is less packed in order to allow gene regulatory proteins and RNA polymerase to access the DNA molecule easily.
