Television contributed to the conformity of the 1950s by creating tv show series that broadcasted "American Culture". Not necessarily the real word but tv was able to reach into every home and sell the world ideas and trends that made certain people appealing and modellike. This didn't represent the average American and still doesn't. Tv would soon become the icon for entertainment and advertising, which would soon consume A lot of time in American lives. This caused many Americans to start conforming to this idea of what is cool and popular. It is a fad that affected young people and even the oldest.
