Peripterus: Columns aligned on all four sides. The space between the walls of the naos and the columns served as a procession space. One of the most beautiful examples is the Parthenon of Athens.
Greek architectural plans are diverse and of various shapes, and are descended from the Etruscans and the Greeks. The typical general plan for rectangular party temples had the inner naos (cella), the enclosure that contained the image of divinity, and the porch, called the pronaos. The great temples had a colonnade that surrounded the whole building, called peristyle, being the building called peripter. Some buildings had double and even triple colonnades.
