The mapping diagram for the relation has been sketched in the image attached below.
- Given the relation:
{(-3, 1), (0, 6), (3, 2), (5, -1)}
Note the following:
- The first value in a given pair is the x-value (input), i.e. in (-3, 1), x = 3
- the second value in a given pair is the y-value (output) i.e. in (-3, 1), y = 1
- All inputs are the domain of the relation
- All outputs are the range of the relation
Thus:
- Domain of the relation given (all inputs) = {-3, 0, 3, 5}
- Range of the relation given (all outputs) = {-1, 1, 2, 6}
To make a mapping diagram, do the following:
- List all input values (domain) on your left
- List all output values (range) on your right
- Use arrows to connect each input value to its corresponding output value it relates to
- Therefore the mapping diagram of the relation will be drawn as shown in the image attached below.
