Motown started as a straight R&B label and later moved into genres from Psychedelic Soul to New Jack Swing. Motown artists were known for their sharp wardrobes, polished style and crisp dance routines.
Some other rock styles like Emotional Rock, or Emo Rock, had similar concern. Emotional Rock is a sub-genre of Rock.
Emo is used as a term for a semi-popular teen fashion trend of self-mutilation and depression.
