Early humans used rocks as tools to make other things as well as to construct buildings. Why was it better for them to use rocks than another material such as wood?

Wood isn't as tough as rock. Wood also breaks down in weather and cracks under pressure. Plus rocks were more accessible.

Explanation:

1. Rocks are tougher and stronger as compared to wood.

2. Rocks can be naturally found in various shapes: pointed, flat etc which makes them usable as a tool right away without any major modifications. In case of wood has to be shaped into desired shape.

3. Wood is more prone to weathering due to atmospheric condition in comparison to stones.
