Explanation: It was the beginning of globalization. Of course, the context was different ...these distant and exotic countries became colonies (dependent in various ways). It created fundamental inequality, but it also connected distant places and it had some very positive results. For example: struggle for abolition of slavery was fought predominantly in Europe and was won there. It was British and French (and other countries as well) politicians who initiated abolishment of slavery outside Europe.
