In the play Our Town, George dices to remain in Grover's Corners, changing his mind about attending college.

Although in Act One of Our Town George, the son of Doc and Mrs. Gibbs, expresses that he has planned to go to State Agriculture College after he finishes high school, in Act 2 he decides to stay in Grover's Corners with Emily, his neighbour since they were children, in order to marry her. Eventually, after asking her if she feels the same for him, they get married. In that way, George places his love for Emily over his education.
