One of the major flaws of progressivism was its inability to deal with the breakdown of monopolies and business arrangements that benefited only the capitalists who coordinated large corporations. The competition was fading to the few and the big businessmen made rivers of money at the expense of the people.
Progressives expressed little interest in trustbusting.
