When Paul crossed the finish line of a 60 meter race, he was ahead of Robert by 10 meters and ahead of Sam by 20 meters. Suppose Robert and Sam continue the race to the finish line without changing their rates of speed. By how many meters will Robert beat Sam

Respuesta :

Sam will be 12m behind when Robert crosses the finish line.

What does it mean to do speed?

  • Speed” is a street name for various stimulant drugs that teens, young adults and others use to feel more alert and focused, and in some cases, to feel high.
  • Some people also use various forms of speed to reduce their appetite. Types of speed include: Amphetamines (used to treat ADHD, narcolepsy, and depression)

I will assume the boys have all run at a constans speed right rom the beginning of the race.

When Robert has run 50, Sam has run 40 metres

so Sam has has run 4/5 as far as Robert.

If this ratio stays the same then when Robert has run 60m Sam will have run  4/5 of 60 = 48 metres.

So  that Sam will be 12m behind when Robert crosses the finish line.
