Offmind's Answer
In "The Raven" written by Edgar Allen Poe the main character goes insane after experiencing a prolonged sadness; nevertheless he had the ability to overcome his grief. In this literary work the main focus is established towards the main character's mental health as it slowly drives him mad throughout the story. This insanity is notably provoked by Leanor, who he had lost. If the main character had been able to control their dark impulse then perhaps they would've been able to find another way to overcome the misery set off by the death of their late love.
