The difference that existed between the political structures after the Roman Empire fell was that:

  • The west of Europe was not controlled fully. They had other smaller kingdoms.
  • The East of Europe was controlled and the government was close to that of Rome

The West of Europe after the fall of the Roman Empire

The West no longer had a strong and a centralized government. Due to the weakness of the new government, feudalism developed there after the fall of Rome.

The East after the fall of the Roman Empire.

The Easter part became the Byzantine empire. This part of Europe continued to thrive after the fall of the Roman empire.
