The stability of the ecosystem will depend on several factors, and in the taiga biome it would be no different, to answer this question we must know that.....
Stability of the ecosystem
Stability, is the result of the interaction between resilience and resistance of a system.
Resilience refers to the ability of a given community to return to equilibrium after a disturbance.
- Example: a consumer's population recovers after a period of scarce resources.
By resistance, we have the ability of a given community to remain in equilibrium during a disturbance.
- Example: the population of a consumer does not show a significant decrease due to the scarcity of a resource.
In short, stability is about the ability of a given community to remain in equilibrium over time, either resisting or returning to it.
Key species
Key species is defined as a species that causes changes in the environment that are disproportionate to its abundance and biomass. In other words, “a key species is one whose population becomes essential for the maintenance of biodiversity and the organization of a community”. It is a classification that requires empirical studies that prove the status of a key species and that has been used erroneously by the general population.
Taiga
The animals that inhabit this area must be well-equipped for survival in this area. They change the landscape with their figure, and inhabit the largest forest in the world. The taiga has a rich fauna. Bison to the north along with
- wolves
- moose
- squirrels
- stoats
- and even roosters.
At the top of the Taiga food chain is the wolf. Simply the biggest canid in the world. They inhabit the northernmost areas of the Taiga, where the cold is greatest and the prey they are experts at hunting.
With this information we can predict that given the simple food chain, predict the stability of the ecosystem, depending on the animal in question, we affirm that the taiga biome is simple, and stable.
