The answer to this questions solely depends on what state you are in. I'm in Florida, so the tax rate will be 6% of the total cost of the purchase. The taxes present on a yoga mat bought in Florida will be the following:
6% = 0.06
0.06 * 8.50 = 0.51 (sales tax amount)
8.50 + 0.51 = 9.01 (total purchase cost)
Please be sure to check up on which state this is meant to be in. If you live in Florida too, then that'll be your answer. But if you live somewhere else, you'll either have to use my steps above to figure out the sales tax amount, or let me know so I can help you further.
