1 + 1 = 2
If we have one apple and get another apple, then we now have 2 apples.
We can also do the reverse to confirm our answer:
1 = 2 - 1
1 = 1
Which is true.
It is also not a matter of easy or not, this may be easy for us but hard for a baby.
