Wernicke’s Area is the part of the brain that's vital for the development of language. It can be found in the left side of the brain. Since Joe was involved in a car accident that smashed in the whole left side of his head, then the wernicke’s area of Joe has been affected and he may have difficulties hearing for a while until he recovers.

The motor cortex is the part of the brain which is involved with control, planning, and the execution of voluntary movements. Since there's an accident, the motor cortex is affected too. The execution it the voluntary movements won't be possible until he recovers.
