BATTLES FOUGHT BY BABUR:
1. Battle of Panipat (1526)
This battle happened between Ibrahim Lodi and Babur. Babur won this battle by employing some new warfare methods.
RESULTS OF BATTLE OF PANIPAT-1:
End of Delhi Sultanate.
Establishment of Mughal Empire.
For the first time, Babur employed the ‘RUMI WARFARE’ method i.e., usage of canons.
2. Battle of Khanwa (1526)
It was this time Babur vs Rana Sangram Singh (or Rana Sanga). Babur won this battle against Rajput king of Mewar Rana Sanga.
RESULTS OF BATTLE OF KHANWA:
For the first time, Babur declared JIHAD on Rajput’s.
The battle consolidated the Mughal Empire foundation stone.
3. Battle of Chanderi (1528)
This was between Babur and another Rajput King Medini Rai (friend of Mewar’s Rana Sanga). Babur won the Battle of Chanderi against Medini Rai.
4. Battle of Ghagra (1529)
It was Mohammad Lodi (ruler of Bihar & Bengal, brother of Ibrahim Lodi) vs Babur. Obviously, Babur won the battle. This battle clearly demarcated the boundaries of the Babur reign. The boundaries of the Mughal Empire during Babur’s rule are as follows-
- North- Kashmir ( modern Jammu & Kashmir)
- South - Gwalior ( modern Madhya Pradesh)
- West - Kabul ( Present National capital of Afghanistan)
- East - Bengal ( West Bengal)
