I do agree with Emperor Diocletian's decision to split the Roman Empire. The Roman Empire at that point was far too large to be managed under one king, which he recognized. This split first had a positive effect on Rome first, because its management became easier between two men. However, certain countries believed this split was a sign of weakness in the Roman Empire and attacked at a higher frequency. This eventually led to his death.
