What is the term for African storytellers, who shared proverbs, songs, and stories about ancestors with the younger generation, who in turn passed it down to their children?
They are called Griots. A griot is "a member of a class of traveling poets, musicians, and storytellers who maintain a tradition of oral history in parts of West Africa."
