I don't know about this specific topic but think of it this way, if someone came into your home, would you trust them? No, I mean I wouldn't.

"How would you feel about these outsiders coming into your homeland?"

I would feel very scared and resistant to let these people come into my homeland. I don't trust them. But now that they have spoken to me about the Peace Medals I do consider them to be friends and allies, they are now friends.

Peace medals mean-

The chiefs proudly wore those medals as signs of their being leaders and of the medals were given when peace treaties were signed and at other events.
