Firstly, Combine like terms :-

On Simplification:-
[tex]\sf \longmapsto - 2x +4 = 10[/tex]
Subtract 4 from both sides:-
[tex]\sf \longmapsto - 2x+4 - 4=10 - 4[/tex]
On Simplification:-
[tex]\sf \longmapsto \: - 2x + 0 = (10 - 4)[/tex]
[tex]\sf \longmapsto - 2x =6[/tex]
Divide both sides by -2 :-
[tex]\sf \longmapsto \dfrac{2x}{ 2} = \dfrac{ 6} { - 2} [/tex]
On Simplification:-
Cancel 2/2, leave x :-
[tex]\sf \longmapsto\dfrac{ \cancel2x}{ \cancel2} = \dfrac{6}{ - 2 }[/tex]
Then cancel 6/-2( -3 is the result ) :-
[tex]\sf \longmapsto \: 1x = \dfrac{ \cancel6}{ - \cancel2} [/tex]
As we know x = 1x,
[tex]\sf \longmapsto \: x = - 3[/tex]
