That is false. People like to clean when they get stressed because it allows them to breath. Some people like to mow the lawn so they can focus on something else.

Cleaning a room or mowing the lawn are physical activities ( exercise ).

Exercise in almost any form can act as a stress reliever. Being active and moving around can boost your feeling good endorphins and distract you from daily worries. Exercise is an example of a positive way of dealing with stress.

Stressful situations increase the level of stress hormones in the body,  such as cortisol and adrenaline. These are the so called 'fight' or 'flight' hormones, meaning that they are designed to protect the body from immediate danger. In modern days, however, stress is not remedied by the above response because most of its cause is mental. Physical exercise can be used as a way to get rid of the excess stress hormones ( metabolize them), so you restore your mind and body to a calmer, more relaxed state.
