A Character vs. Society conflict occurs when a character goes against the laws of their society, a tyrannical government, or an unfair community mindset. Usually the protagonist is an altruistic or idealistic individual who sees injustice and wants to correct it for his or her world.
My opinion is they want to add politics to their stories... Or, another reason is so they can weave the bad and sometimes even good parts of bad stuff like a tyrannical government into their stories, perhaps to convince their readers of their opinion of that certain subject?? It could also be for a reader to see how bad such unfair practices are, and give them the opportunity, to through their story, to form their own opinions of such..
