A large company is being sued for gender discrimination because 20% of newly hired candidates are women when 40% of all applicants were women. You plan to use hypothesis testing to determine whether there is significant evidence that the company's hiring practices are discriminatory.

State the null and alternative hypotheses for the significance test.

null hypothesis: 20% of the newly hired candidates are women.

alternative hypothesis: out of 100% of the workers , only 40% are women and you 60% are male.

The null hypothesis = 20% of candidates are females who applied.

The alternative hypothesis is that only 20% of this store is female, 80% is male.
