Odysseus and his men understand there could be dangers ahead, and Odysseus as the leader must help them realize this, and act accordingly. Instead of doing that, they repeat the same mistake that had already brought them negative consequences.

It's a negligent act, and even though they know the possible outcome, they fall victims of temptation, by the pleasures of food and drink.
