If the Moon is close to new (a very waning crescent or just barely waxing crescent), would you be able to see the Moon in the evening (say around 9pm)?
The moon won't be visible at night when close to the waxy crescent because the amount of sunlight reaching the moon then will not be enough to illuminate it.
