To calculate the energy which needed to any heating, we need to know:
- The mass of the heated material (kg), as the water in your problem
- The specific heat capacity of the material (J/kg.K), it is a specific quantity for each material.
- The change in the temperature according to the heat process (K)
Then, using the relation of heat energy

Note that: the heat capacity is the multiplication of the mass and the specific heat capacity
