Hello from MrBillDoesMath!
Answer:
x = 3 +\- 4i
Discussion:
Using "standard" quadratic notation with a = 1, b = -6, c = 25
x = ( -b +\- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac) ) /2a
= ( -(-6) +\- sqrt((-6)^2 - 4(1)(25)) ) /2(1)
= ( 6 +\- sqrt (36 - 100))/2
= (6 +\- sqrt(-64) )/2
= (6 +\- 8i) /2 as sqrt (-64) = sqrt(-1 * 8^2)
= 3 +\- 4i
Thank you,
