In Morte d’Arthur, why does Sir Gawain suggest that King Arthur sign a month-long treaty with Sir Mordred?
Answer: Sir Gawain knows that Arthur and his men are overmatched.

When they were overmatched, they decided to sign a treaty so he could ask Lancelot for help, this way they could come and help him, meanwhile the enemy wasn´t attacking them.
