For antiheroes or antagonists maybe try people who don't like you or maybe a school bully that has picked on you.
This question requires a personal answer. The following is an example of a personal answer concerning a struggle in someone's life and the characters involved:
- External struggle: You want to win the judo championship.
- Protagonist: yourself.
- Antagonist: the person against whom you will compete.
- Antihero: yourself.
Defining the characters:
- The protagonist of a story is the main character, the person who we "watch" most of the time. We usually root for the protagonist to be able to overcome his or her struggles and accomplish his or her goals.
- The antagonist is any character that opposes the protagonist, that is, that tries to prevent the protagonist from achieving his or her goals. An antagonist is not necessarily an evil character.
- The antihero is always the protagonist. A protagonist is called an antihero when he is very flawed. Sometimes, it is even hard to empathize with him because of his vices and behavior.
Defining the struggles:
- An external struggle or conflict is something that happens outside of the character. It is a problem a character has to face that involves other characters, nature, society, etc.
- An internal struggle or conflict happens inside the characters mind. It concerns the characters problems with his own feelings, traits, needs, desires, etc.
