An important similarity between the two religions is their relative closeness in terms of geographical proximity. It is no coincidence that two of the three great monotheistic religions of the world have a common ancestral homeland: the fact that Abraham was the father of faith for the two religions would also mean that the place where he lived and led his people would be the place where the two religions would be born. The Middle East, comprising the area of Palestine, the Sinai peninsula, the Arabian peninsula (especially the northern half) and the areas of present-day Turkey and Greece constitute, in essence, the cradle of the two confessions.
