This is kind of a tricky question, because the United States of America has been from a very long time a mixed bag of races and cultures. Our real american identity should be represented by the Natives, the very first people that roamed this lands, but by now we have so much influence of other cultures, be it the europeans that came with the Mayflower, the Africans that were brought here as slaves and more recently the ever growing of Latin American culture in the U.S. I think that our real identity lies in the coexistence of all these different cultures, and on the fact that this is a land where people come to make their dreams come true and that we can live in this great land with every hard working individual, regardless of their nationality. This is only my opinion and I don't pretend to know the absolute truth.
