You have a presentation for a live audience. At the last minute, you find a perfect video online that will entertain your audience while making your point. You really want to use it, but you don’t have time to contact the copyright holder. What do you do? Make a stance as to why you are not allowed to use it (what support can you find in the copyright laws to justify this).

First off it is not your property to use. It would be considered stealing if you used it without permission.

As coming of the copyright laws itself "Original works of authorship, fixed in a tangible medium including literary, dramatic, musical, artistic, and other intellectual works. This protection is available to both published and unpublished works."

Therefore work that is not of your original use of writing/speaking/speeches/music/video/images/art etc. Are stolen property and can be justified by the law; A copyright strike, Arrest, Possession of stolen "property" and Plagiarism.

Unless you receive permission work that is not yours is technically stolen and you can be held legible for breaking the law.
