If you think of a clock face:
the line shown is negative because one end is between 9 and 12 on the clock and the other end is between 3 and 6 on the clock.
Positive would be the opposite - one end between 12 and 3, the other 6 & 9.
O would be a straight line horizontal or perpendicular to the x axis.
