we are ganna add -3y to both sides 5y+4=145y+4+−4=14+−4
we are ganna add -4 to both sides 5y=105y5=105
now we are ganna divide both sides by 5 y=2substitute 2 for y in x=2y+1:x=2y+1x=(2)(2)+1x=5
And we get our answer!
x=5
y=2
