have their own religion, voice their opinions, to protest peacefully, and to petition the government
The First Amendment gives citizens the right to freely express, to have freedom of the press (publication of information, opinions), to peaceful assembly, to petition all branches and agencies of government for action, and to practice the religion they want. Likewise, the Amendment forbids the government from promoting one religion over others, which establishes the separation between church and State.
