Everybody grows differently, in due time you'll probably grow facial hair. Although the growth rate, it mostly depends on things like genetics. Don't worry about your friends, they seem pretty rude. Maybe you should ask your dad when he started growing facial hair and see if he grew it around that time or later as well.
