GMOs are plant or meat products with artificially altered DNA. There are a lot of studies that link GMO with allergies, organ damage, hormonal disruptions and other health problems.

Schools should lead the community to avoid GMO products. The school can prevent GMO consumption by:

·         providing (free/ paid packages) GMO free, delicious snacks and lunch readily available for staff, students and other school personnel

·         requiring food brought from outside school to be GMO-free

·         providing short classes/seminars for parents, teachers, personnel about GMO and how to choose GMO-free food (through labels), encouraging parents and guardians to shop organic at local farmers markets

·         creating School Nutrition Association and Food Corps or any group that can teach and encourage healthy food options
