HOPE IT HELPS.

African Americans are Americans who have ancestors from any of Africa's black racial groups in some form or another.

How was the opportunity found?

Free African Americans attempted to find opportunities in the new country by organizing groups to assist or help one another.

For example, Paul Cuffee (1759–1817), a prominent Quaker shipowner of African-American and Native American descent, pushed for the abolition of slavery in the United States (US). For a scheme to transport emigrants to the British territory of Sierra Leone, he received support from the British government, free black leaders in the US, and members of Congress.
