First of all, you need to compare the two statements. That will be;
1 room=15 hikers
Y=154 hikers
I represented the unknown number of rooms with Y. So now we need to find Y. The next step is to cross and multiply. 15 will multiply Y to give 15Y. And 154 will multiply 1 to give 154. That will be;
15Y=154
Divide both sides by 15. That will be;
Y=154/15
Y=That will be 10.27 which means 10 rooms. But 4 hikers will remain. In other to accommodate the remaining 4 hikers, an extra room will be taken. Which will make 11 rooms. Hope that helped. Have a nice day
