Over the past 40 years, there has been many changes to the field of Emergency Medical Services and EMS education. We now have four levels of EMS providers, and the education system must follow State, national, and accreditation standards; all of which have different requirements. We are also challenged by TCSG state standards that require an extended amount of time to become a Paramedic and a very difficult pathway to go from one level of EMS to another in a reasonable time.
What are your thoughts on where we are at the state and national level of EMS education and where we need to be in 5 years from now?
