Glycolysis
Krebs Cycle
ETC (Electron transport chain)
(Glycolysis -breaking down of glucose
( takes place in cytoplasm)
- first metabolic pathway
- glucose broken down to Pyruvic Acid to extract energy
- Net gain of 2 ATP
- 2 NADH produced
Krebs Cycle -Citric Acid Cycle
( Takes place in mitochondria)
-Cycle where ATP is produced and where electron carriers are generated
- Circular pathway
-series of chemical reactions that removes high energy electrons and uses them in the ETC to make ATP
- Lots of intermediary compounds
- 2 ATP produced
- NADH and FADH produced
- CO2 produced
Electron Transport Chain (ETC)
(takes place on membranes of mitochondria )
- Electrons from carriers ( NADH and FADH)
- passed down a series of proteins that accept electrons
- Energy from electrons convert ADP ATP
- Oxygen is final electron acceptor - (forming H2O) )
